Good Eats: Cookies and Cream Cupcakes

At the start of the new spring semester, we got new FHE families. (For those of you who unfamiliar with LDS terminology, go here.) I wanted to make a good impression on my fellow wardmates, so I brainstormed some good eats ideas. Nay was in a cookie mood, so she suggested Cookies and Cream cupcakes. At first I was hesitant, but I found a recipe. (Here)
Aaaand, it was a hit!
Seriously, these are good stuff. A little on the rich side, so they are definitely a special time dessert. But they are soo good.
When I was topping them off with the icing, I kind of felt like DC Cupcakes except without all the drama and whining. I don't really understand the whole cupcake craze. I mean, seriously, a whole wedding cake out of cupcakes? But they are ok sometimes, and this recipe is so good. It's definitely going in my cookbook.

Family Wards

I made a new friend today! He is about three or four (I have THE hardest time guessing how old toddlers are...) anyways, and his name is Lucas. I sat behind his family today during sacrament meeting and about halfway through the meeting he came over to the side of the bench where I was sitting and we bonded over a colorful book. :) His father noticed how much fun we were having and he leaned back to tell me that his name was Lucas. I asked if Lucas wanted to come back to my bench, and his dad hoisted him over, but Lucas didn't like that. So we played with a bench between us. I think his parents were sad to learn that I am a college student and that I wouldn't be sticking around.
Regardless.
Sometimes, I miss children in the ward. Single college students can only be so much fun. And the best part about ward children is that you can hand them back to the parents if things so sour.
All in all, it was a delightful meeting.

Change of pace...aka...change of color.

In a world of ever-changing settings, I have decided to contribute by dying my hair, again. I don't know why I do this, oh wait, yes I do. I like to shake things up a bit every now and then. And changin my hair is the easiest way to do that. I think to an extent its also a matter that I crave attention, and changing my hair also is the easiest way of getting attention. Everyone is all like, "you did your hair!!!" and it makes me smile. Both on the outside and on the inside. Actually, the bishopbric didn't even recognize me today. Which can be seen from both a good and bad perspective, I guess. But now, my hair is miraculous shades of brown and blonde. and various other colors that I am pretty sure I still have in there somewhere. I like it. But then, I love almost everything that I do to my hair. I was half giddy on Friday after I did it.

Even after all the fun events of the weekend, I hit a downfall on Sunday. We have a new ward, and its been a beautiful day and all, but somehow...I can't help but feeling blue. And I HaTe that!!! I love being happy and helpful to people but when I don't feel like that, and when I don't know why, I get so frustrated!!! AHHHHHGHGGHH. Blah.

Not to leave this blog on a bad note. I am going to start yoga! Its going to be amazin! And I am going to start going to the gym again. I haven't been for awhile because of finals, and family visiting and all. Which really isn't an excuse, because true devotees go no matter what. But the truth is, I got lazy, I guess. But have no fear! I will get back into the swing of things. And that will help releasing endorphins...which make people happy. YaY.

P.S. There is a new guy in the ward who looks like Robert Downey Jr. when he was younger. CHeaayah! Hahahahaha.

All Things in Moderation, I say.

So congratulations to me, I just completed a week-long Facebook fast. Wahoo! Ya, it was a challenge to my inability to self-discipline and an adventure in trying to connect with real life, I suppose. So without Facebook, I was able to read an entire novel, complete all of my homework ahead of time, do wonderful things on sunday, AND I started baking again. Its simply astonishing what extra time I found.

And on Sunday, my cousin had his farewell. There are four of us, on that side of the family that are remarkably close in age...and he being the oldest boy, is the first of them to go. So it was exciting to see him off, and to see all the rest of the family. I LOVE FAMILY. They love and tease, and just are such fabulous things.

I love getting hugs too, and that Sunday, I hit the jackpot, figuratively speaking...family members all gave hugs, especially strong cousins who like to see how many ribs they can crack; home teachers, when you give them bread; random ward members because they feel slightly obligated too (haha, this one guy gave such an amazing hug, I actually asked for another one! It was that good.)

But ya, things this last weekend were good. Oh, one of my roommates lives in South Jordan, so pretty close, and we got to go there for the weekend and have a sleepover/picture party. Her cat studied my scriptures with me, and ATE my pen. So, i have a souvenir and about three hundred pictures, at least. It was fun. And I taught Sunday School, which, I think I should prepare more 'cause I had some panic moments and those are no fun. Hmmm, ya that is about it.

So This Sunday Wasn't So Bad...

Hello Folks,
Its October! and it almost snowed! Well, it snowed everywhere else in Utah except for Provo. I am kinda way excited for this whole cold thing. Mind you, this is just the first part of the cold, so I am still fond of it. In a couple months say December, I will be very tired of the cold, and then I will want to be warm again...

So I can't remember who I have told this, but Sunday's are like the hardest day for me. I always get way depressed and I usually cry. Which is sad. But this Sunday was totally awesome! First I taught in Sunday School, which I was wayy nervous to do, but I did it! and I think it was fairly successful!!! And then, I got to talk to a semi-crush. This is very good news, folks. This doesn't happen everyday. And I did Lydia's and Amanda's hair, and Lydia's make-up, I feel very professional. I love the way that they admire my hair-braiding skills. They are, apparently, a rare commodity. haha.

So ya, i think I am starting to get the hang of this whole blogging thing...maybe. We shall see.
